7 Pinterest Marketing Tips to Increase Engagement

1.  Be Visually Appealing.  Let’s face it, we are all visual!  Vibrant pictures should always be used.  However, you also want to get your message out.  How many of us like to read when there is a picture to look at.  When you post text on the picture, it gets read and can have more impact. I use Photoshop and Illustrator to add text to most of my images but if you don’t have expensive software to add text to a picture.  There is a free resource you can use: http://www.picmonkey.com/

2. Include Instructions.  Sometimes people need a little encouragement to share or repin your image.  So I encourage you to use a call to action on your graphics.  A call to action is asking the viewer to do something with your picture.  You will see a lot of this written in the text of a post of picture description.  Like if you agree, comment below, share with someone special today, click me, etc.

My husband is a perfect example…he always says he finds himself thinking that is funny or a cool image but he doesn’t share, like or comment unless he has a little inspiration.

3.  Include Popular Quotes.  Quotes are great and can be very motivating. You can always find quotes already put together.  But every now and then, you’ll run across an awesome quote that will look great on your Pinterest boards.  There is a free website called ShareAsImage.com that can turn any text you find on the web into a cool looking quote and it is a simple process when you follow their step by step process.

4.  Create a Usable Checklist or Cheat Sheets.  Checklists & Cheat Sheets that are  helpful to people.  Checklists are fun because they can be visually appealing like this one on the left and they are also useful.  People love checklists.  I know that I am addicted to them and I have one for what I need to accomplish every day.

5.  Pinterest Isn’t Just for Photos – Add Video.  Videos are great for Pinterest. We all know that people are attracted to visuals, but even more so when they get to see something in action.  A video can be played directly in Pinterest or you can upload a still image of the video and redirect the user to the source like your website or you tube account.

6.  Don’t Forget Useful Infographics.  Infographics are VERY popular on Pinterest.  Now you may be thinking that you don’t have the money to create an infographic or even the graphic design skills.  I am here to tell you that you don’t need either. There are many different infographic resources that you can use for free.

7.  Giveaway Valuable Content.  People always want value information and when you give it away for free they appreciate you and pay closer attention to your brand.  What can you give away, well an ebook, video training series, or maybe a free consulting session?  This is a great strategy to build an email list.
